International Symposium on HIV and Emerging Infectious Diseases (ISHEID)

The International Symposium on HIV and Emerging Infectious Diseases (ISHEID), took place from 16th to the 18th May 2018 at Parc Chanot in Marseille, France. ISHEID is the leading international meeting for scientists interested in the virology, pathogenesis, prevention and treatment of HIV and Emerging Infectious Diseases. The Symposium is an important networking event for the presentation of new developments in the fight against HIV & Emerging infectious diseases. The goals of the Symposium are to increase the scientific understanding of the virus, and to gain insights applicable to future efforts for controlling its spread. This year the  European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS) held a joint session on the topic of ChemSex, during which Viken Darakjian from Positive People Armenian Network NGO presented “ChemSex from the Community Perspective”. Viken Darakjian started his presentation by giving a brief explanation on the term ChemSex, the main drugs used during ChemSex. He mentioned peer pressure, lack of self confidence, Sexual/emotional inhibitions, HIV status and loneliness as the possible reasons behind the ChemSex phenomena. Read More
