Do not interrupt the treatment

The community based monitoring specialists of PPAN NGO with the guidance and encouragement of regional TB cabinet doctor met with 2 brothers who were diagnosed with TB. At the meeting time the brothers had already overcome the stationary part of the treatment. Brothers treatment was performed against MDR TB (BK+). Both were checked out from the TB center with BK- diagnosis and moved to ambulatory treatment course. The regional doctor’s concern was about patients’ irregular method of taking medication, so the doctor turned to the NGO for help. The brothers refused to visit TB cabinet every day for drinking drugs arguing the early working time. A quick response from the NGO specialists on this issue was not delayed as the brothers worked in food court and the negligent style of work here could be dangerous for society. With the presence of the doctor the NGO specialists consulted the brothers and it was decided to repeat the series of medical researches on TB as risk factors were huge. Research results were normal despite brothers’ non-adherence to anti-TB treatment. As a result of research they continued their ambulatory treatment course. The NGO specialists also insisted for appropriate research of pregnant wife who was unaware of her husband’s illness and had never shown any preventive behavior. Now with the day-to-day supervision of doctors as well as NGO staff the brothers visiting the local TB cabinet, receiving medicine and continue the course of treatment.

Research results of pregnant woman were negative. Healthy baby was born and the pediatrician was warned not to vaccinate baby.
