The results of the European testing Week 2018
Testing Week is an initiative that was launched by HIV in Europe in 2013 and is held prior to the World AIDS Day. The goal of this initiative is to increase testing efforts and create awareness of the benefits of early HIV and viral hepatitis testing.
For the second consecutive year “Positive People Armenian Network” social NGO with the financial support of Gilead Science, joins the European HIV/Hepatitis testing week initiative and organized various public screening events in Yerevan, the provinces of Shirak, Kotayk, Lori, Gegharkunik, Armavir and Ararat. The events took place between 23rd and 30th of November as well as on World AIDS Day 1st of December 2018.
The events were implemented in collaboration with the National Center for AIDS Prevention. Some of those events were carried out with the financial support of the United Nations Joint Program on HIV/AIDS, the International Organization for Migration and the Armenian Caritas.
The aim of those events was to raise public awareness on HIV/Hepatitis prevention and treatment as well as to communicate the benefits of earlier testing for hepatitis and HIV to reduce late diagnosis.
During the public events, the public were given the opportunity to get free, anonymous and rapid testing for HIV, HCV and HBV in the mobile clinics of the National Center for AIDS Prevention of RA.
As a result of the screening events carried out during the European HIV/Hepatitis testing week and World Hepatitis Day 1568 people learned about their HIV, HCV and HBV status.
