Vital intervention

The CBM specialists had been acquainted and touched with the patient who was diagnosed with spinal TB while he was on stationary treatment. During the ambulatory treatment phase NGO specialists also were in touch with the bedside patient and provided assistance to him and his family. The patient was lived in a rented apartment with an elderly mother and time by time was receiving help from an ex-wife or children. During ambulatory treatment the patient’s condition became worse as appeared ulcers on body weren’t processed at all. Several times relatives requested the nurse of polyclinic to arrange patient’s return to NTC but each time without result. For finding a solution the patient’s mother decided to call the NGO specialists. After the mother’s call staff visited patient’s apartment and found out him in debilitating condition. The NGO specialists had evaluated the patient’s serious status and called NTC Director. The call purpose was arranging the meeting for the consultation with the heads of departments. On appointed day of the meeting NGO specialists presented in details bedside patient’s condition and shew wounds caused by the ulcers. NTC staff decided to transport the patient to NTC by ambulance on the base of report provided by polyclinic doctor. The patient also informed NGO specialists that he had passport issue without which he will not be able to receive disability status and travel and food money dedicated for TB patients. In order to solve the issue with passport the NGO staff made appropriate payments, obtained release certificate from the prison and submitted it to the passport department. For now the patient has passport which will enable NGO staff to arrange papers for his disability status. CBM team regularly visits the patient. His health condition is evaluated as satisfactory by the doctors. CBM team hopes to take the patient to the International Red Cross Rehabilitation Center after the appropriate treatment at NTC.
