Preventing of wrong solution

A patient diagnosed with drug-resistant TB (BK+) has been at NTC for several months. By his behavior he has caused a lot of problems for both medical staff and security personnel. He used to go from NTC for 4-5 hours used alcohol frequently, then returned in drunkenness condition and violated the rules of hospital.

NGO staff received an alert about the problem from the Director of NTC after which they started to work with the patient. Meetings with the patient on a regular basis and conversations served as a basis for clarifying specific issues. Having been in hospital for several months, the patient was unable to support his family and found solution to forget about the problems by drinking alcohol. Series of meetings with the patient, peer-to-peer consultations, assistance with receiving disability status changed his behavior. Both the medical staff and the security personnel have confirmed the patient’s condition changing.

The patient is still on stationary treatment at NTC but will be checked out after several weeks. After checking out he will continue treatment in outpatient settings surely by continued follow-up of NGO staff.
