The beginning of a new life

The employees of the NGO got acquainted with the patient at NTC. The patient hasn’t had any acquaintance in Armenia. He was ethnic Armenian but had Georgian citizenship. The patient with spinal tuberculosis had been underwent 2 operations during the 5 months of inpatient treatment course. The transition from inpatient to outpatient treatment leaded to a number of problems: the local polyclinic couldn’t provide anti-tuberculosis drugs to the patient without certificate of resident. However temporary shelter for the patient was found, but the patient did not want to inform the owner of the apartment about his illness, which complicated the process of receiving further medication.

Arman Avchyan (CBM working group member of the NGO) registered the beneficiary at his home address and received a certificate in order to get medicine from the regional polyclinic. The patient has discharged from NTC, moved home and received the medication with the direct participation and help of the NGO staff.

NGO staff also will control how the patient taking the medication via VDOT. The patient’s medical history records were also submitted by the NGO staff and delivered to the AIDS center in order to start antiretroviral treatment.

Collecting the documents and obtaining a patient disability status is on process as well.
